I just received my second Caddy Sax Project Bag from BMH and it is GORGEOUS!!! When Beth listed her new Exotic Teal Bags I snatched one quicker than a frog on a June bug. I must say it's more beautiful than the picture shows!!! The quality of Beth's bags is outstanding. I'm pretty sure this won't be the last one I buy (a knitter can never have to many bags).
As always the customer service from Blue Mountain Handcrafts is "topnotch". You won't find better service anywhere else.
Thanks for being there Beth!!

Lordy! Santa came to my house today! I got my big Reversible plum and moss tote, my indian summer caddy sax, my KBC buttons, pins and cards. All wonderful! Can you tell I am getting ready to knit my Christmas gifts? A girl can never have too many bags for her projects. Thank you so much!

I got the Licorice Reversible tote, and I am very happy with it. I love that square bottom! I’ve also bought a couple of the caddy sax (one for me, one for my mom), and they are well-made and a joy to use.

The postman just delivered some fab goodies to me. First Beths’ new style tote bay…. and I must say…. I LOVE it!!! And then there is my “contest win” bag….it’s PURPLE inside. Whoo Hoo! (thanks for including it with my order Beth)
Oh, and I simply LOVE the notecards I got from Katie. They are sooooo cute, can’t wait to use them.
Then there is the jewel tone yarn….hmmm….what to make, what to make….
And now that I have all the scour, wash and rinse I need, I have no excuses left for not washing some fleece. I’d better go get busy.

I got my padded tools covers the other day. I LOVE them Beth! The attention to detail you put into the things you sew is amazing. I thought the straps were going to tie, but no you went the extra step and sewed velcro to hold them. Wonderful idea! I bet it was a lot of fun sewing those itty, bitty, little pieces of velcro on. LOL

I also love the Unicorn fiber wash samples you included. I used the rinse on the camo yarn for the baby gift and I can’t get over how super soft the finished yarn is. I will definitely be ordering more in the future.

Can’t wait until next weekend to get to use them… They came so fast I didn’t realize I should be watching for them and they landed on my doorstep in a rain/snow/sleet storm! I say a big THANKS because the great job you did packaging them saved them from the moisture!

I just wanted to let you guys know how much I LOVE my comb/hackle set! I've combed about 6 oz of fiber & I've only poked myself once so far. LOL
The workmanship on the tools is absolutely amazing, they are beautiful. Very easy to use too, even for a combing newbie like me. And working extra hard to get it to me by my birthday, well, that was just too sweet. But then I never expect anything less when I order from BMH. :)

My Fiber Parfait Kit arrived in the mail today and I LOVE it! Already put some on the drum carder. Gotta pick or comb some it before adding. I just love all the earth tones!
I really like the yarn too. The colors blend so nicely I think I’ll knit up something using them together.

Add my name to the list of VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMERS! My comb and hackle set arrived on Monday and I quickly put them to use combing out some lovely Cormo that I had unintentionally felted while dyeing. My BlueMtn C&H (4-pitch hybrid) made short work of restoring the fiber to beautiful spinnable top.

Thank you, Beth and Eric. Beautiful craftsmanship, heirloom tools.

A few weeks ago, I bought one of the large Caddy Sax and love it! The upholstery fabric inside adds a good deal of heft and structure. It’s large enough that I can shove my nearly completed Classic Lines Cardigan inside. The fabric choices for the patchwork are beautiful, too. I’ve received complements on the bag, and I think Beth will have a new customer very soon.

I received a fiber order about a week ago. I first opened my braid of Corriedale (Great Spirit)--stunning! But then I opened the tiny bag of faux cashmere. Oh my goodness! That has to be the softest thing I’ve ever felt in my life! DS (age 3) always likes to pet any yarn that comes into the house. He knows to stroke it on his cheek for best results. Well, his reaction was, “Wow!” and he instantly gave the little bump of fiber a kiss! It was pretty sweet. I don’t know that the two fibers were meant to be put together, but I think they’ll look great plied together.

Beth gives great customer service and quick shipping, too. Perfect for the impatient knitter/spinner!

SQUEEEEEE! Look what was waiting for me when I got home today! WOOHOO! Early Birthday prezzies, gotta love that! And I buy myself the best gifts too, LOL

Here is the awesome package…. my tools, one of Katie’s cards signed by the entire family, Beth, Katie, Alex & the Guatemalan Chicken Farmer (SNORT), my tool covers, BMH button & a SOAK sample. There has got to be a necked bird somewhere cause all those colorful feathers were scattered in the box too. :) Aren’t the covers awesome?!!! I love the scrap fabric!!!

Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much Beth, Eric, Alex & Katie!!! And thank you for making the box extra special for my birthday. :) Beth, give them all a hug from me please! And give that Guatemalan farmer a smooch on the cheek for working his butt off so I’d have them on my birthday.

And tell Eric that Kevin was super impressed with the tools. He said they were beautiful & that he would NEVER have the patience to make something that precise. He was amazed at the tines & how straight they were. LOL. And said there wasn’t a piece of custom made furniture, cabinet or anything he’s seen in some of the super high end houses he’s worked in that could compare to the craftsmanship. :)

I have been using the beautiful comb and hackle set for over a week now. It means I spend so much more time spinning and creating superfine rovings out of the alpaca fleece I was given is a pleasure.

I am very into hand crafted items and really appreciate the amount of skill and work that has gone into making these tools. Please pass my thanks on to your husband.

My tools arrived today and, oh my, they are a lot of fun. I am plowing through combing the cormo fleece I've washed! It is only taking two passes with very little waste left in either the comb or hackle. This fiber prep stuff might even be more fun than spinning. I can't wait to blend some things.

I just wanted drop you a quick note to tell you and Eric thanks! Beautiful work! Very much appreciated.

A very happy customer, Lisa

Hi Beth:
Finally received my comb & hackle this afternoon at almost 4:00 PM - I thought the postman wasn't coming! I was so excited waiting for it to arrive.

I wasted no time setting it up and combed some wool from a fleece that I received from my daughter-in-law -- it had been washed but was very felted and a mess.

I have attached a picture of my first attempt and needless to say I am thrilled.

They are a beautiful set of tools!

Thanks to you for your very fine attention to details (email notices, etc.) and to your husband for his fine craftmanship! I can't wait for my next fleece to dry so I keep going.

Take care....wishing you and your family a very blessed Thanksgiving!

Jacquelyn

Hi Beth!

Double and Triple EEEEEK - it's HERE! =D **super happy dancing** And the warning at the bottom of the letter that comes with it was the absolute funniest thing I have read in a long time, I had tears i was laughing so hard! My little one and the fur boys have all been firmly warned to stay well away from it ;-)

It's SO beautiful, tell Eric I am super jealous of his mad woodworking skills! I can't wait to try it out - I have some Christmas knitting I *have* to get finished up -- but as soon as it's done I will try and get some pics of my first few experiments!

Thanks again to you both!

My new wool comb and hackle set and Art Hackle arrived a few days ago, along with the adorable purple covers. Opening that big box was like Christmas morning being a kid! My husband says ‘hmmm, great packing job!’ and once he checked over the new tools thoroughly he says ‘Wow ~ he did a great job on these!’ My hubby is very impressed. :):)

They’re beautiful Beth! As well as the covers, which fit perfectly. Thank you so much. Now, I’m off to wash bags and bags of alpaca fleece, and figure out my curious cat’s napping schedule so I can comb without her wanting to help. :)

Hi Beth!

Wanted to let you know I received my set this afternoon and am thrilled all to pieces with it. Even my husband was impressed and pronounced it money very well spent. I've got two fleeces that I can't wait to comb and I suspect Colin will have a go at them too just for the chance to handle the tools. I won't be doing much with them until I get over this bronchitis but I'll very likely bore you with photos of a beautifully combed Lincoln fleece as soon as I'm feeling better.

Thanks again to both you and Eric!

My reply:

Hi Stacy!

Oh I'm tickled you love the cards!! My 12 year old daughter, Katie, is an artist and we print the cards from her original drawings. She earns all the profit on the sale of the cards after expenses are taken out.....this is how she earns her spending money:) Her division of BMH, Katie Bug Creations, started last year with her own page in the shop which she is very proud of. Not bad for a 12 year old;)
thanks!

I was over-the-moon excited to get my comb and hackle today! I think my mailman was a bit frightened by my enthusiasm, actually. Have started combing a Shetland fleece that I've had in storage for an embarrassingly long time, and am thrilled with the way combs work. They are rock solid, and even clumsy as I am, I have managed to not skewer myself on the tines so far. Very, very happy with my purchase, I'm already planning to buy one of the art roving hackles as soon as I can afford to :)

And my spinning wheel is still oohing and aahing over the wood balm. I swear I could hear it saying “ohh, that feels so good” as I was rubbing it into the wood. It really made it look great. I think it was a bit dry as it was drinking it in like an alcoholic with some booze. lol
I also love Katie’s yarn tags!!! I will be putting them to good use. :)

Dear Beth,

I'm writing to let you know that the comb and hackle arrived safely.

The tools are perfect. They are as light and well-balanced as they look in your videos, and easy to use even with my weak arms and wrists. The workmanship is superb and they look beautiful too (on seeing how lovely they were, everyone in my family wanted to try them!). Before they arrived, I had been using "wool combs" I made out of cardboard and nails, so you can imagine what a difference using real tools made...

I tested them first with some slightly felted alpaca that I'd washed before I perfected fleece scouring, and within minutes had a smooth, noil-free roving. The next fibre I tried was some Shropshire that was full of seed, hay, and woodshavings, and every single bit came out after three passes from comb to hackle. The most spectacular result was the third fibre, some cashmere-type fleece from a goat with a lot of coarse shorter hair underneath the fine fibre. I'd tried dehairing it by hand but it was impossible. The comb and hackle did it in four passes! Wow! All these fibres were relatively short and fine and combed dry/unoiled. My next test will be oiled longwools; the results are sure to be amazing.

I've combed only about 5 oz so far as I haven't been well, but the tools already feel like they belong in my hands. I will definitely be able to use them to produce the quantities of sliver I need to make my own clothes.

Thank you to Eric for designing and making these tools, and to all of you for making them available to people on the other side of the world. I will recommend them to anyone I come across who is looking for wool combs.

Hi Beth and Eric,
I received my 2 pitch hackle/comb set today and it is beautiful ! It's oak/cherry and Eric did an amazing job! I have been playing with it with some cormo and I think it's going work great with my merino, Suri, angora and Shetland fleeces I have to process! One more comment, I cracked up when I read the 'Necessary Warning'.....thought I might add that besides former Presidents, we better not allow FUTURE POTUS to have access! Lol. Thanks again!
